How to Prevent Stretch Marks -- Are Stretch Marks Preventable?
Jon Harb

What can you do to prevent stretch marks? Plenty! Can you prevent
stretch marks, or are they just "hereditary?" Questions like this
about whether it's possible to prevent stretch marks are common, and
the answer is simple: Yes, it's possible to prevent stretch marks by
keeping the skin ultra moist and elastic during pregnancy. Stretch
marks are tears in the collagen beneath the top layer of the skin
which are caused by excessive stretching or expansion of the skin
over a relatively short period of time.

We commonly hear that "My OBGYN said it's all hereditary and it's not
possible to prevent stretch marks." This is both intuitive and
technically feasible, as long as the inner and outer layers of the
skin are kept ultra moist and elastic during the growth phase.
The skin is capable of doing dramatic things without tearing (note:
stretch marks are tears in the skin.... Keep the skin stretchy and
elastic, and you'll prevent stretch marks).

In some African tribes, people are able to stretch their skin
dramatically and still prevent stretch marks. Using many key
emollients is key to success. Middle Eastern women swear by olive oil
to prevent stretch marks, and so on.

Mother's Intuition, Inc. began in the spring of 1999, when it's
founder became determined as a new mother to create stretch mark
solutions that would really work, and ultimately help mother's
everywhere with the battle against pre and post pregnancy stretch
marks. After hearing from her OBGYN that she'd either "get stretch
marks or not," depending on her genetics, she really started to
worry! Both her mother and grandmother had stretch marks. She has had
three pregnancies and to date has prevented stretch marks. Please
